I don’t know about you but for us life still remains as crazy & busy as ever. The ‘to do’ list is probably longer now that it was last month & we are constantly doing battle in the garden trying to keep on top of all the upkeep along with the care we need to spend on our potager. But one thing I always try to do is enjoy the moment & try to factor in some down time.
It might just be half an hour, here or there, or it could even be a day where we say enough is enough but here’s a few of the things we’ve been enjoying lately.
With a lot of the work completed on our son’s new apartment we’ve started to enjoy the perks of him having a place on the coast & enjoyed our first lazy beach day.
We’ve also got the spa up & running so a cheeky apéro or two in the spa after work is the perfect unwind from hubby’s continuous schedule of meeting after meeting before we have dinner & start on our evening ‘to do’ list.
We’ve also started to enjoy a coffee on a Wednesday morning at the local market with new friends, which is great for practising my conversational skills. They’re so lovely & patient with me & we have already shared many a laugh. Not only am I learning lots of new words & phrases but they’re sharing new local tips on places to visit etc. I have to say the odd cheeky glass of rosé shared together certainly helps with my French conversational skills & cement new friendships.
We’ve even popped our vide grenier cherry with a stall at our local one last Sunday.
I can’t say hubby was too enamoured at the thought of being woken up at 4:45am on a Sunday morning, especially on Father’s Day with the threat of storms but we had a great time & shared many a laugh.
And of course the food was nearly as important as the event itself!
This tomato tart my friend made was absolutely delicious.
And my lemon drizzle cake (click for recipe) went down a treat, especially as we’d got lucky with a pitch next to & opposite friends, which meant it was soon all consumed along with the rosé that had been shared between our stalls.
On top of that I’ve been savouring the blue skies & hot temperatures, which constantly give me that holiday feeling, even when running errands.
Until next time.
À bientôt.
Jane xx
